Q: What is a Toy puppy?
Generic Answer: A Toy Puppy is a very small Breed of dog that belongs in the Group of dogs the AKC has designated
as the Toy Breed Group. There are approximately 25 breeds in this group – different Kennel Clubs include different
breeds in the Toy Group.
Our Opinion Answer: Toy breeds are small lap dogs. They average a weight of 5 - 15 lbs (most stay under 10 lbs). They
will follow you around EVERYWHERE and LOVE you forever. Toy breeds have even MORE love and kisses to give in
their small bodies than ANY large breed.
Q: What exactly is a teacup puppy?
Generic AND Our Opinion Answer: 'Teacup' does not refer to a breed. It is a term PEOPLE MADE UP to describe the
size of a Toy dog that is smaller than average. “Tiny" or "Teacup" are not recognized terms by the AKC or CKC. These
are terms are used to described / guesstimate the size of your puppy once it is fully grown. The terms refer to
“Smaller than Toy” size dogs.
These are living creatures. Based on their diet, exercise, environment, there is NO way to predict an exact weight for
a puppy when it is fully grown. We do not expect most of our puppies to be larger than 10 lbs. The majority will be in
the 5 - 7lb range.
If we ever say yes to "is it a teacup"? We are GUESSTIMATING (another made up word) the puppy will be less than 5
lbs full grown.
Q: Are teacup puppies sickly and unhealthy?
Generic Answer: This is a very common misconception, but the answer is no. Not all teacup sized puppies are
unhealthy. They are, however, equivalent to premature babies and require a lot more care and attention than your
average sized puppy. Because of their tiny size and delicate nature, their immune systems are a bit compromised, so
you need to be a little more careful in what they come into contact with and how they are handled. As they get older,
their immune systems grow stronger and they are just as healthy as any other dog. All of our puppies have been
checked by a licensed veterinarian and come with a clean bill of health.
Our Opinion Answer: THEY REQUIRE A LOT OF EXTRA CARE AND ATTENTION!
Q: What is the average lifespan of a toy breed puppy?
Generic Answer: The average lifespan is actually 12 to 15 years for a toy breed dog.
Our Opinion Answer: We think it is more like 12 - 20 years (NO JOKE).
Q: What are the prices of your puppies?
Generic and Opinion Answer: Each puppy is priced individually according to breed, sex, size, color and markings. The
prices usually range from $395 - $1495. Occasionally we have a $200 puppy or a $2500 puppy. If you are interested in
a particular puppy, please call for more information.
Q: Do you ship your puppies?
Generic & Opinion Answer: If you are local (less than 500 miles), we will deliver the puppy to your door (for a fee).
If you are further away we would like for you to take a day and fly down and pick him/her up. We will meet you at the
airport and you can hop right back on a return flight with your new baby. This is normally less costly than "shipping".
SIDE NOTE ~ Airlines put the crate your puppy has to be delivered in down in the luggage compartment. The luggage
compartments are usually NOT climate controlled. Crates are then handled like luggage. For toy breeds this can be
EXTREMELY stressful and can CAUSE hypoglycemia.
Q: Where do you get your puppies?
Generic Answer: From USDA licensed and regulated breeders. Specific breeder information is given to the customer
at the time of orientation. All of our pure bred puppies come with registration papers.
Our Opinion Answer: Our puppies come from friends of ours! We have stayed with and spent A LOT of time learning
from any breeder we use. OUR puppies AND their PARENTS LIVE like KINGS and QUEENS! NO...THEY ARE NOT PUPPY
MILL OR PUPPY FARM DOGS! We ONLY buy from breeders who love the PARENTS as much as they love their puppies!
Q: How old are your puppies?
Generic & Opinion Answer: Our puppies vary in age, they are at least 8 weeks old before arriving in our care. Most
puppies are ready to go after being checked by a veterinarian. The tiny ones (usually Yorkies or Chihuahuas) we keep
a bit longer, so we can make sure they develop good eating habits.
Q: What if I want an older Do?
Generic & Our Opinion Answer: CHECK OUT THE SHELTERS IN TOWN! We have some GREAT shelters with GREAT dogs!
These pups would LOVE nothing more than for you to come in and adopt him/her!
We do (on occasion) have a puppy/dog come back to us. We ask new owners to give them to us instead of shelters if
they can not keep them, then we adopt them out.
Q: How soon should I expect to meet my new puppy?
A: Most of the time, you can take your puppy home with you the day you meet. Occasionally we will require a deposit
and hold the puppy until we feel he or she is ready to go.
